After putting several pieces of fondant on and taking them off again - I was pleased with the final look of the zebra patter. The balls where fun this time making the different sizes - I thought they turned out with fun overall look. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Zebra pattern - It's very tricky and even if you have a mold (which I have several in different sizes) of this pattern...it can be very tricky on each cake. You have to play with it really and to be honest, after having this pattern requested several times now - I have come to the conclusion that i start on one side with a few large strips...then I rotate it to the opposite side from my start and add some there....then I basically try to add a few in the "middle" sides to the left and right of my two starting points and from there I can start to fill in the areas while rotating it around and around. I do this because there is nothing worse than to get this pattern started and looking great just continuing to turn clockwise from your start - to have you reach all the way back around to where you began....and have the pattern not lay correctly meeting up to the beginning. I have found doing it in sections...front, back, side, side..fill in between...this has worked out best to keep the pattern flowing all the way around. Hope this works for you too!
