Purple is for Passion

Project Description

Share a little about the materials, processes, and techniques used to create this cake Gumpaste, Fondant, Royal Icing, luster dust What are you most proud of? The flowers and the pipingS What advice would you give someone starting this project? Before beginning this cake I studied two Craftsy Classes. I thought I would have nothing to learn from the free class, Modern Buttercream. I was very surprised. Although I've been in the cake business a number of years Joshua John Russell taught me some tips that greatly improved my icing techniques. Also, knowing that I haven't perfected my piping technique I purchased the Modern Piping class. It was very helpful in making the artistic leaves the client required. Something I had to struggle to get past was the request the couple made to have the flowers be silver. I started our with gray fondant and used silver pearl dust. I was surprised by how much I loved the effect. One thing I would do differently. The roses were too deep... placing them directly against the cake would have been better if I had not made the base so large.
