Pink and Brown Damask First Birthday

Do you sell this cake? Yes Link to website or online shop www.facebook.com/KarlieCakes Share a little about the materials, processes, and techniques used to create this cake I was going to use a Damask stencil for the bottom tier but it didn't come in the mail in time. In desperation I watched The Hand Painted Cake course and thankfully discovered a way to paint on the pattern. It was painstaking but I was very happy with the outcome and thankful to have found a way to do it!

Q&A with msichana

bettycrocker18@msn.com asked:
this is absolutely phenominal:) I love Damask-no clue on how to do it:(
msichana answered:
You can see in one of the photos here, I printed a pattern I liked, then put a piece of parchment paper over it and traced in pencil, just the outline. Then I pinned the parchment paper onto the cake, the side with the pencil on it touching the cake. I then traced over the lines, pressing firmly enough for the pencil marks on the paper to transfer onto the fondant. After taking the parchment paper off the cake there were light pencil lines that I could then use to paint the pattern. I hand painted it with brown gel color mixed with vodka. For a video tutorial, just sign up for the free class here called The Hand Painted Cake. That's where I learned how to do it because, as stated in my description, I bought a stencil but didn't receive it in time. Using a stencil would obviously be much easier and faster! :)
