OSU/Texas Helmet Cake

Project Description

Do you sell this cake? No, just for fun Share a little about the materials, processes, and techniques used to create this cake This was my first attempt at a football helmet. I stacked 4- 10" cakes and 1- 8". The cake was white with lemon filling. I used plastic straws, foam board, and dowel sticks for the supporting structure. After butter creaming and refrigerating, I carved away. The grill for the mask was made from gum paste, and dried on a form I made out of poster board. I made that about 6 days ahead of time.(I crossed my fingers it was going to fit the cake) I covered the cake with MMF doing 1/2 at a time. The letters were out of gum paste. I air brushed with pearl color, then added the accent pieces.
