OSU My Chef Appreciation Cake

Project Description

Do you sell this cake? No, just for fun Share a little about the materials, processes, and techniques used to create this cake I used gumpaste for the figurines, each figurine is a Chef or Instructor that I had while I was at OSU (Culinary Arts Dept). I followed Anne's technique on creating the figures... using the supports that she used. Cake was a Strawberry Cake with Vanilla Buttercream Icing covered in Home Made marshmallow fondant. The orange and black tiles are sugar cooked to hard candy stage, poured into gem molds. The Chef hat at the top is Rice Krispie Treats covered in ganache and covered with fondant. What are you most proud of? I wanted to say "thank you" for the 2 years that these incredible people taught me about the art of culinary. So I made a cake with all of them on it... I love the figures, they were alot of fun to make... I had made figures before but always had problems, Anne's instruction helped me to create figures that were strong and durable with none falling apart. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Create with your heart & stay inspired... You'll never know what you are capable of unless you stretch yourself.
