Oroton bag with red heel

Project Description

Do you sell this cake? Yes Name of website or online shop My Shop Link to website or online shop www.sugarblossom.com.au Share a little about the materials, processes, and techniques used to create this cake Chocolate and caramel checkerboard cake, chocolate fondant, gum paste What are you most proud of? I love the textures, I found a great piece of leather to use and a piece of open mesh fabric to give the effect on the handbag. Also the shoe was pretty pleasing, and it stayed intact despite the week of solid rain we had while trying to make it :) What advice would you give someone starting this project? Creating a template, to scale, as the course suggests was really helpful to me because the hard sugar elements obviously need to made first. I had to make my own tool to hold the shoe sole in shape while it dried using cardboard and styrofoam because the commercially available ones didn't give me the look I was after. I also made one practice shoe at the same time I was making the final one which gave me a chance to learn and improve the design as it went along. Good fun :)

Q&A with sneakygecko4

Redhead1946 asked:
Beautiful job! I have yet to do a shoe. And I love the detail on the purse.
sneakygecko4 answered:
Thanks :) This was my first shoe too. The purse texture was made using a piece of mesh fabric, I didn't know if it would look any good but it came out really nicely esp with gold dust on top....
rdhCAKES3 asked:
Really impressive, nice clean work! How many hours did you put into making everything?
sneakygecko4 answered:
Thank you :) The shoe took a while as it was my first one, I started that about a week out and did bits and pieces on it basically each night... I will have to get a lot more efficient for it to be cost effective! Thanks for the feedback :)
thelms asked:
did you airbrush it?
sneakygecko4 answered:
No airbrush... just luster dusts with a nice big soft brush :)
