Ombre Roses

Project Description

Share a little about the materials, processes, and techniques used to create this cake Buttercream What are you most proud of? The color variation What advice would you give someone starting this project? My icing slid overnight. The roses at the bottom were not that squished at first. Not sure what caused this.

I think you did an awesome job! Did you use a buttercream icing? Sometimes I start out on the bottom of the cake and work my way up so then I don't have the heavyweight on the bottom icing layers, if that makes sense. Still awesomely beautiful though!

I should have started from the bottom. The reason I started at the top was to make sure my icing color graduated correctly. I started with my lightest color and added food coloring a drop at a time as I went. I also think my crumb coat was WAY to thick. I didn't think about how thick the roses themselves would be.
