Share a little about the materials, processes, and techniques used to create this cake Chocolate pound cake, rice crispy treats, ganache, fondant, gel colour, vodka, shimmer spray, dowel rods, garment steamer. What are you most proud of? This was my first torso cake and also my first attempt at painting something so detailed onto a cake. I'm also proud of the fact that I completed the construction process within 24 hours on this too! What advice would you give someone starting this project? Practice and patience- plenty of both! Vodka is a great tool for diluting the gel colours and dries quickly so I was able to work pretty fast. Also keeping a shot glass of clean vodka with a clean brush on hand is great for 'erasing' any little mistakes easily, just paint the mistake with the clean items very gently until it disappears. Finally I always finish my cakes of with a light steam, it really 'sets' the products into a perfect finish. I just use a cheap garment steamer I got from Kmart and it's the best investment I've made!
