The textures mimic the bride's dress of ruffled ribbon roses and a tucked ribbon bodice. Because this was for a destination wedding, layers and fondant work were done by a local baker. Gum paste magnolia and cake design were of course, my own. What are you most proud of? My concentration was the focal magnolia. I gave very careful attention to the contrast of the simple creamy petals against it's very complex center. What advice would you give someone starting this project? My largest challenge was to design for a wedding 2000 miles away. Gum paste can be packed for careful shipment (allowing extras for breakage) but finding a baker you can trust is another matter. Good communication is essential.
