Do you sell this cake? No, just for fun Share a little about the materials, processes, and techniques used to create this cake I started by covering my cakes with fondant. Next I prepared the pastilliage recipe used in this class. I used the pastilliage to make the little "baskets" around the middle tier. I made many tiny little gumpaste flowers, by hand, to fill the baskets. The linework and stringwork was piped with royal icing. I modeled my birds using gumpaste, using a tiny scissor to clip a featherlike texture. All the purple roses were made using gumpaste and colored with Sugarpaste brand petal dust. This cake was entered in the Culinaire Societe Philanthropic competition and earned a silver medal in the wedding cake category.
