Lego Cake

Project Description

Do you sell this cake? No, just for fun Share a little about the materials, processes, and techniques used to create this cake Everything in the cake is edible except the Lego figurines. The Lego bricks are made out of candy using my own silicone mold. The brick pattern on the sides was achieved by using Jessica's Wax Paper Transfer method (it was a life saver!) and almost a thousand Lego size bricks made out of a 50/50 mix of modeling chocolate and fondant and cut by hand. This is a chocolate cake with Oreo SMBC filling that has been ganached to achieve sharp edges. Thanks for looking :)

KristaJohnson asked:
WOW! I am so impressed with your dedication to detail. I love your design. Do you have a favorite SMBC recipe? I'm new to decorating. Thanks!
craftsybea answered:
Thanks Krista! I love Summer from the website CakePaperParty.com, she has lots of foolproof recipes and her SMBC is super easy! There are lots of different types of cake recipes as well. I also follow the blog http://sweetapolita.com/ and my first SMBC was made from her recipe: http://sweetapolita.com/2011/04/swiss-meringue-buttercream-demystified/ Hope this helps! :)
