Hunter Bobblehead Cake

Project Description

Share a little about the materials, processes, and techniques used to create this cake I used the materials suggested in the bobblehead class materials What are you most proud of? This was a complicated cake, and I'm most proud that I got it finished. Also that it was my first time using this type of cake structure and it was a success! What advice would you give someone starting this project? Make sure you have all the materials and ingredients ready before you start. It's a must to have a refrigerator to cool your cake in between coats of icing. I have a refrigerator on top (freezer on bottom) and I had to take out shelves on one side to make room for this cake.

Wow!!! What a terrific job! Congratulations!
SherylBr answered:
Thank you!
CakeBakerMoney asked:
OMG! You rock!! I took this class and thought that there would be absolutely no way I could replicate this. Whilst I still think that, I am totally in awe of anyone that does. Well done. Absolutely amazing job. I hope DL was delighted.
SherylBr answered:
Thank you! It was one of the hardest cakes I've done, and I was glad it turned out as well as it did. I had to keep rewatching the videos to see what to do next! DL was a good sport about it...he also had to stick a knife in the head and take a picture of that before he cut it. Mike's cake recipe was good and it stayed moist, although the buttercream was VERY buttery.
RuzeCakeHouse asked:
Fantastic! How long did it take you to make it. Was it for a special occasion?
SherylBr answered:
Thank you! No, it wasn 't for a special occasion...just wanted to do this cake after I took Mike's class for the practice. I actually took a while to get it finished up, but spread it out ... shopping one day, building the stand another, baking another, carving and getting the fondant and details on the face another, then I did the bottom half and final details the next day. Mike's buttermilk cake recipe held up well, in and out of the fridge, but was very moist when the cake was cut. I think next time I'll be able to work faster now that I know how it will go.
