hungry caterpillar cake

Project Description

Share a little about the materials, processes, and techniques used to create this cake Fondant, Cake, food colouring, cake board, wooden tooth picks, purple ribbon, royal icing. What are you most proud of? The caterpillar. I think he looks just like the book. What advice would you give someone starting this project? If making big fondant figures allow plenty of time for them to set with supports ( a month or more) otherwise they can crack.

Perfect! What did you use for the little spikes on his back?
Sally Ryan answered:
Hi Mischana and Thank you.. The little spikes are coloured fondant rolled into tiny rolls and cut to length when they were almost set I made holes in the back and slid them in with a little tylose glue.

Just Americolor and then leaf glaze on the body. And thank you very much.
