Share a little about the materials, processes, and techniques used to create this cake 8 inch sponge, vanilla buttercream, jam, sugar paste and printed icing sheets What are you most proud of? This was my first attempt at a bag cake and I was pleased how it turned out in the end. What advice would you give someone starting this project? The basic shape is easy enough. I used an 8 inch square split filled than cut in half and stacked ( I dowelled it using large straws for support). The top layer was carved into the required shape. this is easier when chilled or semi frozen. Cover in sugar paste then cut icing sheets to shape and attach with a little water. The piped edging was done using an extruded/ clay gun - if you knead a little vegetable fat such as Trex or Crisco into the paste it is much easier to squeeze it out.
