Share a little about the materials, processes, and techniques used to create this cake Cake, buttercream, fondant, gumpaste. What are you most proud of? I decided to enter a competition for the first time, I thought why not give it a go. Well, I was very glad I did as it won Gold for the novelty , sculpted cakes. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Prepare as much in advance as you can, even for the decorative flowers etc ( mine were rushed & a little too thick) ..... This will just make the whole process so much easier. This cake had no wires in it at all & the handles were attached using royal icing, so this required plenty of drying time. Lastly make sure you cover your iced board before dusting, this is a lot easier than tring to get the dust off at the end.
