Gone Fishing Cake

Share a little about the materials, processes, and techniques used to create this cake Basic scratch cake recipe into a tart moist Lemon cake. Cream cheese with bits of fresh strawberries for filling in the 4 layers. Lemon flavored buttercream crumb icing & fondant. Also piping gel to look like water What are you most proud of? That I can created these cute cake, just so much fun What advice would you give someone starting this project? It is a 3 day project. Day 1-Make/bake and freeze cakes. Day 2- make all fondant decorations- store in an air tight container, shortening and powdered sugar colored green for grass, crumb icing and cream cheese filling & esemble the cake and crumb ice it and put in fridge. Day 3- measure/weigh out the fondant needed to cover cake, color it and roll it out. (I use 'The Mat' from Sweetwise) cover the cake with the fondant, smooth it out and trim, add the decorations and piping gel to make the water effect, brown sugar for the sand

did you have an issue with the gel for the water on top of the rolled fondant? And did you have an issue with the brown sugar melting? Perhaps you didn't put it back into the fridge and cover the whole thing, is this correct? I love this cake my dad and I use to go fishing all the time in colorado and I really bonded closely with him during that time in my life very fond memories, Thanks for bring that back to me in this cake design great job!!

No I didn't, it stayed put. The small bit of sugar that touched the gel kinda look wet like rock in water do.
