Do you sell this cake? No, just for fun Share a little about the materials, processes, and techniques used to create this cake I made this golden cake for my husband's 40th birthday. This is my most challenging cake so far. For the first time, I stacked a double cake (two cakes together), crumb-coated with ganache, created sharp corners to get a perfect cylinder, used an airbrush, used the wax paper transfer method, and modeling chocolate. It took about five days to complete it. Now to the good stuff. Both tiers are three layer cakes with a white chocolate butter cake and a dark chocolate genoise in the middle. The filling is a swiss meringue buttercream with sprinkles of toasted hazelnuts and candied orange zest. I was able to do most of this cake by utilizing all of the techniques that I learned in this class. Thank you Jessica for your comprehensive mentorship! What are you most proud of? I like the overall look of the cake, but I'm a beginner, so I know that there is still lots of room for improvement. For this reason, I'm so happy to share my first class project with all of you, because I'm hoping to hear your opinions about the cake, and I'm particularly hoping to hear comments that may suggest areas for improvement - variations in colors, in design, how may I have changed something slightly to create a greater impact, etc. My only request is that you please provide an explanation with your suggestion(s) so that I can understand your point of view. Thank you all! What advice would you give someone starting this project? Pay close attention to the lessons and replay if necessary. Do more research if you want, and definitely read all the relevant questions and responses that people have asked Jessica before you start your project. This will help you avoid many mistakes, and ultimately will save you time and frustration!
