Canon EOS 5D SLR Camera #MyFavoriteCake

Project Description

What was your source for this recipe? Other Tell us more about what inspired you. I have been making novelty and celebration cakes for a couple of years. Earlier this year I was asked to make a Canon 1000D. It ended up twice actual size which was huge and unnecessary. But it was a big success and I was asked to make the 5D later in the year. I love working on detail and was determined to make this cake look as real as possible! Do you sell this cake? Yes Name of website or online shop Hugs & Kisses Celebration Cakes Link to website or online shop www.facebook.com/xoxoxCelebrationCakes Share a little about the materials, processes, and techniques used to create this cake Started out with a rectangular madeira cake, double torted, sugar-syruped and filled with vanilla buttercream icing. The cake was then carved using a number of images of different angles of the camera, sized, printed and cut out to help with the carving. The carved cake was then crumb-coated, cooled, then covered with sugarpaste/fondant icing. The details were then added using a combination of sugarpaste and gumpaste icing. The lettering was hand-painted on using edible colouring - this took ages! ***There are 35 photos of this cake in an album on my facebook page but the file sizes are too large to load up to this site. Please stop by if you'd like to see more detail close-up What are you most proud of? The detail and the strap! What advice would you give someone starting this project? Have lots of photos, or the actual camera around you before you even begin xoxox
