Do you sell this cake? No, just for fun Share a little about the materials, processes, and techniques used to create this cake I started with a round 6'' chocolate cake (5'' high) that I carved into a hexagonal shape, and with a pound cake dome that I carved into a hexagonal-pyramid shape. Then I applied the layer of chocolate ganache following all of the techniques for proper leveling that we learned in this class. Using panels, I attached the modeling chocolate and then the MM fondant. For the outer decorations, I used combinations of fondant, gum paste, and royal icing. What are you most proud of? Honestly, I'm very happy with the overall look of the cake. But some of my favorite aspects of it are the string work around the cake and the cake board. The cake board is my simpler version of a tiled surface. I used the same techniques that we learned in this class. What advice would you give someone starting this project? It is important to have a clear plan of the key steps that you must follow to execute your project, but it is fine if new ideas appear in the process. This was the case with the string work, and the "tiled" board.
