Birch Tree Cake

Project Description

Share a little about the materials, processes, and techniques used to create this cake Fondant What advice would you give someone starting this project? This is fairly easy and it is painterly. Each one I do comes out very differently. Ive made them with morels, moss, river rocks, flowers and tiny forest animals, as a vignette with other woodsy items and felled logs... you can take it as far as you want to. It is more impressive in person to be sure.

Do u mind sharing how u made the texture and design of the tree. I love it so much
ElleBelle answered:
Hi! I can. I just need to write it out for you but Ill leave a few pointers here right now. Could you message me?. I have a couple others of this on my website as well. This one Im not totally happy with as of yet. But I will tweak it till Im happy and will repost. :) I use a tool to give the tree texture and 'lines' sometimes I even use the backs of my nails. The fondant is torn to make the rough edges and left to dry. I paint with color gel and vodka- several sizes of brush- dry brishing and wet. It looks really great when I use a white chocolate fondant as well. hmmm... what else- have a section of birch beside you as you work for direct inspiration as well. Perhaps I should make a video? haha . .
