A Black Tie Affair

Do you sell this cake? No, just for fun Share a little about the materials, processes, and techniques used to create this cake I wanted to do a design to show potential wedding clients that even if they are going to have a small, intimate wedding reception, they did not need to sacrifice having an elegant cake. I came up with this simple design as a display cake for a wedding show that I was a vendor at this past week. I used 8" and 6" square cake dummies, covered them in white fondant, added fabric lace as the border and then red gum paste flower petals to make one big accent flower.

Q&A with Sweet Tea Lady

sugartara asked:
The cake is elegant and charming. Where can I get the same lace mould? And is the lace fondant or sugarveil?
Sweet Tea Lady answered:
Good morning! I actually used a fabric lace border for this one. It was a display cake for a wedding show and it needed to hold up for several car trips :)
