A Quilt to Remember: Help With Our Community Charity Quilt

Hey, quilters! We’re starting to wind down on our 2017 Block of the Month (can you believe it’s already April?!), and we want to wrap up this wonderful experience with a special project — and we need your help!

Blazing Star Blocks

This year, we’re calling on you and your fellow quilters to help us create a community quilt for charity — think of it as a special one-of-a-kind way to give back. And here’s the best part: It’s going to be made up entirely of blocks from our own Blazing Star community.

Here’s how you can help

If you made practice blocks for any of the four featured blocks (the Wild Goose Chase, the Aura Star, the Marquis Diamond or the Broadway Star), send ’em our way! Or, make an extra one just for our cause.

Square the block to 12.5″ and, if you like, add your initials with fabric markers or embroidery. We’ll then piece the blocks together in a simple but beautiful design and, once finished, we’ll photograph the finished quilt before donating it to Firehouse Quilts of Colorado, a cause near and dear to our hearts.

Send your blocks our way!

When you’re ready to send your extra block, simply write us a note telling us your name, where you’re from, and a little bit about your Block of the Month experience. Then mail your finished, squared block and your note to:

Craftsy
Attn: Block of the Month
999 18th St., Suite 240
Denver, CO 80202

We must receive your block by May 15, 2017 for it to be included in the quilt (that means in our hands, not post-marked, please!).

As a valuable member of our Block of the Month community, we hope you’ll take part in this special stitched adventure. Keep on the lookout for the finished quilt in June and, of course, don’t forget to spread the word about this incredible opportunity.

Planning to donate? Leave us a comment here so we know how many blocks are coming our way. We can’t wait to see what we can make together!

P.S. If you’d like to participate but haven’t yet enrolled in the Block of the Month class, it’s not too late. You can get the patterns and lessons for free here.

Hi Sally,
You can use any fabrics you like! We’re sure the final quilt will be a bit scrappy, and we think that’s part of the fun.

I made blocks with my own fabric. Is that O.K.? I’d love to be a part of this.

Is it too late to join this venture? How do you acquire the patterns?

I’m a new quilter and my quilting shows. Do you accept blocks from new quilters?

Absolutely! The beauty of the project is that it’s made by quilters of all levels from all different walks of life. We can’t wait to see!

I am happy to donate a block! What a great cause. I have the lessons but have been too busy to actually follow along with the class. At least this way I can try out one of the block patterns 🙂
