Don’t Miss Visit Your Local Quilt Shop Day

Visit Your Local Quilt Shop Day

We all know that shopping local is critical to both keeping shops healthy and a thriving creative community. Quilt shops are no exception to that; they’re vital to our industry and are much more than a retail venue. Often they’re places where quilters and sewists can come together, trading stories about their latest projects, discussing new techniques, discovering new fabrics, and inspiring each other to work with fabric in exciting new ways.

Recognizing the critical role of local quilting shops, The Fabric Shop Network (the trade organization for independent quilt and fabric retailers) has pulled together an awesome event you don’t want to miss. Quilters, sewists, and fabric lovers around the country are encouraged to show their support for local, independent quilt shops on the inaugural “Visit Your Local Quilt Shop Day” to raise awareness for the importance of these businesses in their local economy and in the creative pursuits of crafters everywhere.

So be sure to visit your local quilt shop Thursday, January 24, for the official Visit Your Local Quilt Shop Day! Check out your local shops’ special events by finding out what is happening in your area and join in the fun. You could even promote your favorite shop in a post on your blog, joining the ranks of other bloggers like Sew Take a Hike, Red Pepper Quilts, and more.

That’s great, Amanda! I love sew-in days! Hope you all have a fun time and that it’s a nice community-building and sales-boosting event for your shop. Thanks for the comment!

We’re giving away a free fat quarter to everyone that comes in to see us!

Well I would shop locally if I could, but we do not have one close by. So rather than drive 100+ miles I buy quite a lot online. Love doing that except one can not touch the fabric. Love those shops!

I love to visit my LQS because the employees are friendly and helpful. They also have some really great classes.
