The Adventures of Craftsy at STITCHES Midwest!

Recently, three members of the Craftsy team journeyed to Schaumburg, IL to experience the controlled chaos of STITCHES Midwest! Follow Katie from Marketing, Eric from e-Commerce, and Linda from Instructional Design on their STITCHES adventures through the photos below!

We were up bright and early Thursday, the preview day in the Market. The first thing we had to do? Set up the Craftsy booth! Here is Eric practicing his modeling skills showing off the booth. Those modeling skills would later come in handy...

We met so many great knitters and crocheters! Here is Linda with Jenee, who is a student in one of Linda’s Craftsy courses! It was a blast meeting Craftsy members and introducing others to the site.

We had a few of our lovely Craftsy instructors doing demos in the booth throughout STITCHES, including Edie Eckman and Myra Wood. Myra had quite the crowd as she demonstrated the Magic Loop.

The instructors weren’t just in the booth to demo. Here’s Craftsy instructor Gwen Bortner showing Eric how a professional winds yarn using some of the beautiful yarn Linda picked up in the Market. Notice Eric’s sweet bowtie? Linda crocheted it for him in the booth, and it was a smashing success!

We went to an amazing fashion show with many beautiful garments, then later joined Marly Bird and Kristin Omdahl at the Pajama Party - a STITCHES tradition. Linda worked on a project with her new yarn, Katie slowly started a scarf with her new crochet skills, and Eric impressed everyone with his master yarn knowledge.

We had two beautiful pieces in the fashion show. Gwen Bortner designed the Entrelac Wrap Skirt (pattern here!) and Marly Bird designed the Simona cardigan (pattern here!). Even though the Simona cardigan is designed for women, Eric worked his new-found modeling skills to show off the details in the cardigan, while Katie showed off the wrap skirt.

We had two great volunteers who helped us out in the Craftsy booth while we were there. Here is the team with Karen, and we were also joined in the booth by Maggie. Thanks so much Karen and Maggie for sharing your time with us!

Overall, we had an amazing time! Thanks to everyone who attended STITCHES and stopped by the booth. We had so much fun meeting Craftsy members, introducing others to the site, buying too much yarn, going to the evening events, and spending time with our great instructors.

Look for the Craftsy team at STITCHES East in Hartford, CT October 11-14. If you’d like to be featured in the STITCHES fashion show representing Craftsy, it’s not too late to enter a design in our contest! See you in Hartford...

It was so fun getting to hang out at the booth. And Eric is both a very good student (learning how to be a swift) and a good model (wearing Marly’s beautiful design)! And Katie is too cute in my skirt! I can’t wait to do it again!!

Loved interacting at the booth. Really really loved Eric’s red vest. But have still not received a free pattern that was promised.

Hi – I’ll let Eric know you loved the vest! As for the patterns, I’m sorry about that. You should see an email from shortly so you can access the free pattern.

I was there and was excited to meet Linda because I have taken one of her online classes. Also, thank you Craftsy for giving away a free class! I have now learned Tunisian crochet. 🙂
