If you haven't seen the recently released quilting documentary "Stitched", the film does a great job of exploring the differences and slight controversy between traditional & art quilters by focusing on the International Quilt Festival in Houston.
It's not like one is better than the other, traditional and art quilting are just different. Art quilter Melody Johnson makes great use of some traditional techniques and patterns but with a twist. Her Treehouse Series of quilts feature some of the most vibrant colors you'll see in a quilt.
Melody's Ferns and Tulips quilt is clean, classic, yet still adventurous. So what do you think? If you don't love art quilting, does Melody's work bridge the gap for you? Or do you just enjoy her work and art quilting outright? If you've done any art quilting yourself, why not upload a few pics to share?
