Knitting: Silk Curved Scarf

Silk Curved Scarf

A Lovely Silk Scarf

32 reviews

The Silk Curved Scarf is a lovely silk scarf that delicately curves around your neck. Perfect as a summer accessory or a touch of color in the winter, this scarf will delight you through all four seasons. The simple lace design is knitted right in as you work this pattern sideways, so the border is built into the pattern. Along with the built-in lace, short rows shape the scarf into a gorgeous crescent shape.

Artyarns Regal Silk is the perfect yarn for this project, as silk takes on your body temperature so that you almost forget you have it on. This elegant 100% silk, hand-painted yarn is easy to work with and adds a touch of class to any garment.

With basic lace and beautiful short rows, this pattern is perfect for knitters of all levels, especially for those who have never tried short rows before. So grab your knitting needles and let's make this lovely silk scarf together!

Good Beautiful but different  September 12, 2014

I loved the shawl and the written line by line for the first few teeth were a life saver, but I never got the tips of my shawls to look like they were supposed to, though they are still cool. I can not figure out what I did wrong. I have made it numerous times with a Patons metallic yarn increasing the length and width of the shawl as it had more yardage. I get a lot of compliments on them. Thanks again

Excellent Genius Iris  December 28, 2013

This was so much fun and such a pretty result. The yarn is a bit touchy to work with but it is worth is in the end. I loved the workshop and the shawlette.

Excellent lovely scarf  October 8, 2013

The instructions were clear, the yarn was so beautiful, and the help was there when needed...all in all a great time! I even took the suggestion Iris gave for adding beads at the start of every right side row and it is so special! Thanks Iris!

Excellent Beautiful Scarf  October 1, 2013

Thank you so much! I really enjoyed this experience. Being new to the KAL experience, I was a bystander reading all the comments and following the great instructions. I have a wonderful end product that I am enjoying and getting lovely comments! (I have some great pictures but have not been able to attach them :-( )

Okay A Bit Too Small  September 18, 2013

Lovely scarf but I would have preferred it to be longer and wider. It's more like a collar than a scarf.

Good Boo's Review  September 1, 2013

I really enjoyed this KAL - it was my first one. This was also my first lace project. I love my finished scarf and cannot wait to show it off.

So in rating this class, I gave four out of five stars. I would have given five stars but I feel that instructions could have been written a little bit more clearly. Otherwise, it would have gotten five. The yarn was pure joy and Iris was a great instructor - very encouraging and prompt with her help and replies. I would love to take another ...

Excellent Silk Curved Scarf  August 30, 2013

I thoroughly enjoyed making this scarf. That the yarn was a lovely shade of aqua and silk to boot, made this especially sweet. Although I did not learn any new techniques, this was the first time I had ever worked a project that incorporated short rows and lace edging together. A real pleasure!

Excellent So Happy  August 26, 2013

This was a wonderful experience. The yarn was delicious, the pattern was well explained and everyone was really helpful. I learned several new things and created a beautiful scarf. I cannot wait until the September KAL.
I would do a class or a workshop with Iris again in a heartbeat.

Excellent Lovely design & designer  August 26, 2013

I enjoyed making the silk curved scarf, which I modified to be a small shawl. The yarn is beautiful, the pattern simple but clever, and Iris was exceptionally responsive to everyone's questions and comments.

Good Lovely scarf  August 25, 2013

This was my first KAL, so I didn't know quite what to expect. I made several false starts trying to follow the pattern using the lace chart, which I found totally confusing. Once I settled on the written instructions everything fell into place. Being able to view everyone's comments and Iris' responses definitely made things easier. The best part was learning how to do short rows.

Excellent This workshop was awesome.  August 25, 2013

I have serious problems getting started on this. Iris is so patient and so helpful. She answered all my questions quickly. Just reading other people's questions and comments really helped me out a lot, too. Once I figured it out, the pattern was quick, easy and fun.

Average Confusing at first but perseverance paid off!  August 25, 2013

I didn't get to start this project until about half way through the month and I found the instructions to be very confusing to start. I printed off all the instructions before starting as reading and knitting in front of my computer is not ideal. I had several false starts and ripped everything out to the beginning several times before getting the hang of the pattern. Reading through the comments helped some but I found having the written instructions in two parts awkward at best. I did finish ...

Poor Disappointment  August 24, 2013

The yarn arrive early and I had a long wait for the pattern. The yarn and pattern are nice but pricey, $ 40. I wish the yarn and the written pattern were mailed together. When I finally recieved the mystery pattern- the scarf is pretty but not something I would pick because it is sooo small. Its more collar than scarf. I would have happily have bought two skeins for a real sized scarf. Yes you can make it larger but why am I having to change the pattern into a scarf. I expected a real ...

Excellent Very fun scarf to make from a well-written pattern!  August 20, 2013

This scarf looks complicated but was very easy and fun to do. Once I had the pattern memorized and could see the logic, I could put the pattern aside and just go to town knitting. I love projects like this! Also, I really appreciated Iris' prompt response to participants' questions. All-in-all, a very worthwhile knitalong. The silk yarn was yummy to knit with, too. I'd love to make another one in a different color!

Excellent Fan of Iris Schreier and Artyarns!  August 20, 2013

This was my third Mystery KAL. My first experience was great, my second I wanted a refund and swore off any more Mystery KAL's. My friend Jag009 told be what wonderful yarn this was, so I was intrigued, and with some reservation I joined the August Mystery KAL. Boy am I ever glad I did. Iris was an absolutely wonderful leader. She was patient, knowledgeable, and challenging. She gently pushed and cheered us on. She not only introduced me to a wonderful yarn product, but also to lace work. I ...

Excellent Silk Curved Scarf - loved this KAL  August 19, 2013

Just finished and posted a picture of my scarf here and on Ravelry. I have to give this workshop 5 stars because I enjoyed it so much. I, too, got off to a slow start - I found the silk to be slippery to work with in the beginning, so I made a scarf out of some scrap yarn I had. That was good because it helped me get used to the pattern as well as the yarn. Once I was comfortable with that, everything fell right into place.

And, the scarf turned out absolutely beautiful and ...

Good Silk Curved Scarf is Awesome!  August 13, 2013

First, I'll say that the yarn is beautiful. I was a little concerned because I never choose this shade of blue for anything, but I was pleasantly surprised when the scarf was finished. It blocks beautifully with a lovely sheen, and a very nice drape...I can't wait to wear it. My only wish is that it was a wee bit longer. The pattern is very well written, and once I got the hang of it, it was smooth sailing all the way. I'm always a little intimidated by lace knitting, and successfully ...

Excellent AWESOME!  August 11, 2013

I am an intermediate knitter, so I have the basic skills under my belt. I am so happy with this workshop. It uses lovely yarn along with excellent "learning skills" all wrapped up in a quick knit that is GORGEOUS. Even my husband looked over as I was working and was impressed (and that's without it being blocked). . I can see adapting this pattern in several ways, making it longer, wider, using different types of yarns. Very exciting. This is exactly what a one skein workshop should be!

Excellent Fun project that mixed two wonderful skills  August 10, 2013

I really enjoyed practicing short rows and lace since I want to get better at both.
The instructor was johnny-on-the-spot with any questions and had a lot of encouragement.
Once I memorized the lace pattern, it was an easy pattern. I just needed to watch closely where I was if it was a hold row, increase row, short row, or decrease row...which was good. I liked how it engaged my brain.
Knit up very quickly and i love the silk yarn.

Excellent So much fun!  August 7, 2013

I very much enjoyed knitting the Silk Curved Scarf on Craftsy with Iris Schreier. I will definitely knit another one of her designs. This was my first knit-along and it will not be my last. I recommend watching the video on short rows if you have never worked them before, and Craftsy offers a very informative one. I will most likely make this scarf again, as it is quick and would make a lovely gift. Do not attempt this pattern if you are tired or will have lots of interruptions. It is not ...
