Are you familiar with the basic crochet stitches but patterns seem like a foreign language? Do you try to follow a pattern but extra stitches and crooked edges have made you want to give up? This workshop is for you!

In this workshop, we'll make a sampler cowl: an adorable cowl made up of 3 different crocheted blocks and an edging. In each block, I will teach you to read increasingly difficult written instructions step-by-step. You will learn how to count your stitches by learning which stitches count and which stitches don't, putting an end to those crooked edges!

In addition to reading crochet instructions, I will demystify those add on instructions you often see, such as block, weave in ends, gauge. What is gauge? How do you block? There's really nothing scary to it; you just need to be let in on a few insights!

The instructions are coupled with a photo tutorial making it easy to follow along and understand the entire process of crocheting a cowl. If you have any questions along the way, I'm here to help! Post questions, comments, and photos of your work to share with me and your fellow students.

By the end of this workshop, you'll feel confident reading crochet patterns, will have crocheted an adorable cowl, and be ready to take on the world! Have questions? Bring them on! That's what a workshop is all about!

Excellent Crochet Sampler Cowl  November 4, 2012

Although this workshop focuses on pattern reading, it is a fun project for the experienced as well. Stacey thoroughly spells out every step of the project from start to finish. I particulary liked the way she covered "the grey areas" in the Edging section of her instructions. I recommend this workshop to anyone. I enjoyed it tremendously, as well as the compliments I get whenever I wear my new cowl!
