Sensuous Self-Made Soap

Fragrant, Colorful, Cleansing Bath Art

Creating hand made soap satisfies our senses in so many ways. First, we can pick the color we want. We can swirl the color or blend several colors, and we can add beautiful flowers for added visual effect. We can pick our favorite fragrance or concoct our own aromas by mixing different scents in a way that satisfies our own unique taste. It feels great to use something that you made by hand and, more importantly, that you had control over all of the ingredients. Often commercial soap is full of harsh chemicals that adversely react with our skin. When we make our own soap, however, we can pick nourishing, natural ingredients like olive and coconut oils, cosmetic clays, grains like oatmeal, and so many other soothing additives that make our skin feel pampered and loved.

This workshop will ignite our creative, sudsy sensibilities. It will open our minds to so many soapy possibilities that we will be able to invent endless varieties of cleansing creations! Just be warned, once you start it's hard to stop! Soon you will be giving your gorgeous, hand made soaps to all your friends, family and co-workers!

About the Designer:

Alia Diez

Alia Diez

A former TV producer, Alia Einstein-Diez started making bath and body crafts soon after her daughter was born. Having always been hypersensitive to chemicals and fragrances in commercial products (even so-called 'natural' body products), when her baby turned out to be equally sensitive she started making her own soaps, herbal oils, butters, bath bombs and much more. Once she started, she couldn't stop! At first she gave all of her extra all-natural bath creations to friends and family. Finally, she started her own business Gaia's Kiss. A crafting maniac and passionate about all-things-hand-made, Alia is always looking for ways to add more crafting creativity to the business - such as making soap sacks, hand-made soap dishes, shaving mugs, and putting herbs she grows in her garden into her products. Alia lives in Denver with her husband, daughter, son and shetland sheepdog.

Poor Not Worth The Money  May 24, 2013

I took this class, but I was expecting more of a hands on approach to making homemade soap. I found that to me, this class was nothing more than what I was able to find on the internet. I only paid about $ 7 or so, but what a waste of time and money. I have seen videos on you tube that were better than this mini class. I have asked for a refund, this class is not worth it.

Excellent You will not regret taking this class!  May 15, 2012

Having taken a few (actually, more than a few) classes in my day, this class is by far one of the better ones. Alia is knowledgeable and shares her wealth of knowledge so freely. The process for making the soaps is photographed, which helps us as visual learners, and the written instructions are clear and easy to follow.
Thank you for such an outstanding class, with a fabulous teacher!
