Quilt a special gift

Sashiko stitching can adorn everything from a serious art piece to a whimsical personal gift.

This ancient craft from Japan translates beautifully to modern accessories, so have fun with this simple and fresh use of a Sashiko geometric design within a pillow.

In this workshop, we'll learn the method of Sashiko design and stitching as we sew a throw pillow that will look great in any home. With step-by-step instructions and detailed photographs, I'll walk you through preparing the fabric, creating the Sashiko stitches, and assembling your pillow. And, I'm available to answers any questions you may have as we go along.

Sashiko is a meditative and relaxing--even "Zen"--style of stitching. The artistic intent is to concentrate your attention on the smooth repetition of white stitches defining a design against a dark background. The personal objective to achieving Sashiko satori is to stitch so neatly and regularly that the thread becomes one with the fabric.

Good Content Good Web Site Layout Confusing  May 20, 2012

Pepper Cory's information and photographs are effective, but I find the operation of the Craftsy website confusing. I posted a project, but it is unclear how to find my project. Don't you just have a section for student projects?
