Since retiring about 3 years ago, I have wanted a hobby because I now have the free time. I love watching HGTV and DIY, and I'm constantly fixing up my house! My husband thinks I'm "whacko", but he puts up with me (remember: happy wife, happy life!). My sister does quilting, and she discovered Craftsy.com and told me about it. I'm so glad she did because it's just the inspiration I needed. Now I can LEARN before doing so hopefully, I won't have so many "mistakes!" I plan to start with "From Drab to Fab" first as I have several pieces of furniture that I'd like to "bring to life!" I think I want to try stenciling and silver leaf.
By the way, I have 2 grown children, and 3 grandchildren. My oldest granddaughter lives with us (and her mom) every other week...not the best situation, but LOVE having my g-daughter with us! She definitely keeps my husband and I young! My son recently moved to Ventura with his wife, and they have 2 children...my younger g-daughter who is 2 and a new g-son who is 4 months! We adore our grandchildren, and basically, they are the "wind beneath my wings!" I would love to make some things for them, for sure!
Before retiring, I held several jobs. I was an editor for a local newspaper for 9 years, and lastly, a substitute teacher. I also worked as the principal's secretary at a local middle school for 5 years. I enjoyed that immensely, and that job definitely kept me young! As you can see, I have a great love for children. I always have...I babysat as a kid.
My husband and I are looking forward to traveling a bit (cruising), and we love and enjoy our dog, Roxy...a 9 pound Yorkie who is the smartest dog ever~! My husband takes him to the dog park almost every day so Roxy is a very social dog and loves everyone. He is definitely one of our "children!"
So, that is a little about me. I am definitely "young at heart" and enjoy new things...and that is why I am looking forward to taking a class on Craftsy!
