My grandmother taught me how to sew. I'm also from Hungary, and we were taught how to embroider in school. I still remember I couldn't get any of my satin stitches straight. And I puckered the fabric with them: not the desired effect. Then I made friendship bracelets. And with one of my best high school friends we sewed much of our clothes for a couple years.
