I'm a single disabled mother of four amazing children. I first discovered my hidden talent of creating edible artwork, when my daughter was graduating from 8th grade over a year ago. I had volunteered to head up the desert committee and worked with Fondant for the first time. I made personalized 4" cakes for each graduate...they turned out great and were a huge hit. Then I wanted to create all the time, and people started telling me that I should start a business. So, in August 2011, I started charging for cakes and decided to make a go of it. I have taught myself a lot of techniques I've learned from watching The Cake Boss, and several others on the Food Network. And I do some of my decorating my own way. I haven't made a profit yet, but am told it takes about a year before you make any profit. I live off of disability payments and can barely support my children and only because I live with my parents, and help by paying a small amount of rent. Some months are really bad, but I'm determined to get my business license and make my dream come true. You can check out my website at www.ravensweetcreations.com. I'm also on Facebook under my business name Raven's Sweet Creations. I make Unique Cake Pops and Theme Cakes...I have made most of my clients happy, by making my cake pop baskets, and shipping them anywhere in the U.S.A.
Update: I was finally able to get my business license on November 20th, 2012 with the help of a new Cottage Food Law, that allows me to legally have my business out of my own home kitchen. This makes me extremely happy and hoping in an increase in clientel. Can't believe it took me over a year to finally get legalized, but so glad I did! Thank you to all my friends and family that support my dream!
