My father gave me a little Singer Touch & Sew for Christmas when I was about age 9. It came with precut fabric for making an apron, a handkerchief, & a scarf. I quickly sewed these items and gave them as gifts. I still laugh when I remember giving one of my grandmothers the apron, because it was sized for a small girl, not a grown woman! Lol!
With no more fabric available to me, I began cutting apart my doll clothes and sewing them back together...well, sort of. I also made a lot of other crafts such as needlepoint, cross-stitch, embroidery, macrame, hooked rugs, beaded jewelry & decoupage with fabric scraps.
In 7th grade I took sewing classes at our local Girls Club...a few years ago my daughter also took sewing classes there from the same sewing teacher who had taught me almost 30 years earlier!
Over the years I have sewn various things such as my wedding dress, clothing, curtains, lap quilts, quilted pillows, baby clothes, & costumes for church or college musicals.
Signing up for Craftsy classes has encouraged me to take out all of the unfinished projects & quilt tops from the closet and work towards finishing them.
