I've been knitting most of my life. I have very early memories of my mother using a knitting machine and of myself and my brother playing beneath it 'looking for her dropped stitches'. At age 10 I knitted my own jerseys by hand. Later I was given my first knitting machine and from there I went on to join a local Machine Knitting group. This progression took me on to join the NZ Machine Knitters Society and to successfully enter National competitions. Amongst other things, I became president of the local club, taught at the local Polytechnic and later started my own yarn distribution business selling Possumwool yarn. A few years later I sold this. About 5 or 6 years ago, a change in family circumstances saw me having to put my knitting ambitions on hold and I'm only now just getting back to pursuing it again. While machine knitting is still very much my primary interest, hand knitting is what I am currently pursuing.
