I've been sewing since I was 9, so that's 35 years of collecting fabric to make stuff. I made my own school uniforms, which is quite ironic considering it took me a whole term to make a pillowcase in sewing class. I almost knew more than the teacher when it came to sewing at the age of 11. My other love is wool - having being taught to knit at the age of 4, I was reading knitting patterns at the age of 7 and used to knit jumpers for my family. My mother was instrumental in my love for all things crafty. I come from a large family, and making stuff was a way of life. My grandmother was an avid knitter - so when we stayed at her place in the school holidays, she used to get us to knit to keep us all out of mischief. Even the boys had to knit - not that many of them kept it up LOL.
I've very recently started quilting. I love it. And now I'm teaching myself free motion quilting on my domestic machine using the crafty classes. My first few quilts were quilted by a long arm quilter - and she is amazing, but I don't feel like I've finished my projects. So learning FMQ is the way to go. We have limited classes here in New Zealand, so this website has been a godsend.
When I'm not sewing, you'll find me looking after my fur babies - Hugo and Harriett, both cavalier king Charles spaniels, and Sophie & Lucy - ragdoll cats. And my goats, my beautiful Nubian goats who are full of personality and charm. We're lucky enough to live in the county on some land just 20 minutes north of New Zealand's biggest city.
I have a wonderful husband who supports all my hobbies - I'm so blessed to have someone so understanding. And yep - I do work, we own our own business. Work hard, sew hard - that's my motto.
