I come from a long line of women who loved needlework. My grandmother was an excellent crocheter and embroiderer. Having 3 girls, my mom sewed out of necessity. I come from a long line of women who loved needlework. My grandmother was an excellent crocheter and embroiderer. Having 3 girls, my mom sewed out of necessity. However, she birthed "the sewing bug" in me as we call it. She made 3 piece wool lined, plaid suits for each of us in just a few weeks to wear to homecoming. They were awesome.
Another Auntie (Jan) taught me to knit. My sisters used to go to Aunt Jan's for a week at a time to play with our cousin. Being the youngest, they would tease me to tears. Instead of going with them to the corner store, I would stay back with Aunt Jan. She taught me to knit. Each time I came over, she had a project for me. Oh, how I felt comforted and loved.
Soon, I would comfort myself when life as a teen was so emotional. In fact, to this day, I MUST do some form of craft each day or I feel like I'm missing something. I strive for perfection in any media I like: rug hooking, crochet, clothes sewing, household furnishings, knitting, embroidery, spinning, weaving, painting ceramic figurines.
My world has been so much richer for pursuing my creative urges. I am so glad to be taking part in this mediam! Keep the quality of your teachers and the fine delivery of the courses!
