Aunt Vay taught me to knit when I was 11. My godmother Della taught me to crochet when I was 9. Both ladies made gorgeous things for everyone. Aunt Vay would take me to the yarn store where the smell of yarn made my heart leap for joy. Aunt Vay would take me to the yarn store where the smell of yarn made my heart leap for joy. We'd paw through a wonderful local fabric store which carried all odds-n-ends of factory overruns, buttons from 1930's that were still on the shelves, and all sorts of forms and special tools that were used for Lord knows what -- I was in Heaven. Although life has led me down mostly serious, non-creative paths, now that my older relatives are all gone and there is noone between my generation and the sky, I am finding time to do and to appreciate handmade clothes and crafts. I love this site!
