My mom had a relatively large quilt business when I was growing up, and then a smaller one later when I was a teenager. I am pretty fortunate that I never had to work at McDonalds in high school or college, I just went into the basement and pieced quilt tops.
I can sew a long straight quarter inch seam like nobody's business, but I never really took the time to learn how to make clothing properly because I always had a quilt order staring me in the face. My mother recently sold her business, and I took about a year off of sewing completely. But lately I've decided I want to challenge myself and delve more deeply into the world of making apparel.
