My mother and both grandmothers were crafty ladies. Some of my favorite childhood afternoons were spent hanging out in my Mom's sewing room while she sewed and I talked about my day. My maternal grandmother embroidered beautiful miniature pictures that she designed herself and sewed. My paternal grandmother was a quilter and I have several of her old quilts and an envelope of her quilt patterns. For a long time, I worked and had very few hobbies but my children. Once they left the nest I started scrapbooking and recently I have taken up quilting. My first major project was to make a quilt from a stash of completed umbrella squares that my grandmother had completed the applique and embroidered handles on.
Since beginning to quilt, it has become my passion.
