My first introduction to sewing was in junior high school where I made an apron and my grade 9 prom dress. I didn't do any sewing again until I bought my first sewing machine in 1973 and nothing I made fit so it ended up in a closet until I had children and then I used it to mend clothing, alter jeans and the like and make Halloween costumes. My real sewing started when my daughter asked me to make her bridesmaids dresses scared stiff we picked out the pattern and fabric and I went to work boys did I have a lot to learn and I did and they weren't perfect not couture by any means but the girls were all happy with them. Since then I have made 3 more bridesmaid dresses, a wedding dress and a flower girls dress and again none of them were couture by any means but I am always looking to learn new ways, better ways to do everything right, I have bought books found information online, the internet has an amazing wealth of knowledge and now I am anxious to learn couture sewing the right way to sew and make things fit properly.
