She bought me a toy sewing machine when I was 8 or 9, and we were both so frustrated with it that she let me use her machine instead! I remember making a drawstring bag and a pair of shorts, both out of this awesome red fabric with teeny cows printed all over it.
I didn't craft for a long time through college and in early grad school, but have picked it back up again-- my mom bought me a new machine (and got one for herself, too ;)) for Chirstmas last year, and I've started making pillows and curtains for my apartment. Next up is trying my hand at making clothing!
I also enjoy paper crafts (cut paper designs and collage) and photography. My mom now works primarily with ceramics, and I enjoy hand-building with clay as well. :)
