I have been crafting as far back as I can remember. A bed-ridden neighbour taught me how to knit after making a set of clothes for my dolly when I was about 7. I always seem to have sewed. Used to make paper patterns for dolls clothes and cut and sew by hand when I was little. Mum bought a 'toy' sewing machine for me when I was 11 as I had been busy making a skirt for Confirmation and some curtains for her. No-one taught me how to sew, I just seemed to know how. Like a lot of people I let these talents go dormant until I found a Charity called Loving Hands. I am so inspired by Lou Jaap who started this charity, like the 3,000 others who have joined I now spend any time I have knitting and sewing items which get sent to her in Scotland and she distributes them among the lovely people who personally see they get to where they are needed in the world. Every thing is made with Love whether it be for an animal charity or children or grown ups. We all do whatever we do best, and then try some more by learning a new skill. We help each other and make friends within the group, some meet others in their area and start a group for knitting and nattering in this way everyone benefits.
