I've been sewing a crafting for almost 60 years.....my mother let me use her treadle singer to sew "doll cloths" when I was only 6 years old. Since then I've been more or less actively involved in a wide variety of media....made my own clothing in the early 60's....many jumper/ shifts, mini skirts and dresses, prom dresses etc....I even fashioned a beautiful pink boucle skirt and boxy jacket ...Jackie Kennedy style. I also remember crocheting several vests and purses during the 60's and 70's. During the 70's I did macrame, weaving and pottery using both the wheel and molds. I used my sewing skills to decorate my home with drapery and bedding. I also did some furniture refinishing. I interrupted my elementary teaching career to stay home with my young children in the early 80's and continued to sew for them; mostly blankets and room decor. I also did crochet and knitting during that time. I returned to teaching in the late 80's. During the 90's I admired the quilting that my mother was doing and when she died in 2004 I inherited her 'stash' and many unfinished quilt tops. I was newly retired from teaching and had the time now to take up quilting which I still love. I love the creative aspect of sewing and crafting....and I am enjoying the online courses....thrifting and repurposing is right up my alley .....and I just checked out some jewellry make courses which I plan to persue. My 7 yr old granddaughter also loves sewing and crafting. Life is good.....the only problem is my hubby thinks I spend too much time on my computer and in my sewing room.....Happy wife....Happy life!.....I must remind him!
