My Mother is a precise sewer. Her work is neat, neat neat. She follows the pattern directions and uses the machine and correct lining. Mom also tied knots in her sewing threads, never a back tack used on her garments. Together Mom and Grandma would crank out beautiful clothing. I had lined wool suits made for me at Easter time. Beautiful. They also sewed for my sister and 3 cousins. We were a well-dressed bunch. Mom took up things that encouraged her desire to detail, Ceramics is a true love. Where G'ma always crochet intricate lace doily's. Gma taught me to knit once and I didn't pick it up until after she passed away. I still knit w/ a European hold, yarn in the L hand and think of her often while I knit....
I sewed some while my kids were little; Halloween costumes, Christmas dress and a vest for my son and daughter but found knitting. I prefer the ability to take my knitting wherever and the ease of knitting.
I own more patterns than I'll ever knit and probably more yarn than one person should own but I love it....
