I started knitting at age 8 when my aunt gave me some worsted weight yarn, size #8 needles, and a plastic basket to keep them in. She owned a small LYS and taught me the basics. 50 years later, I still have those needles. When she moved to Wisconsin, I was on my own! I read every book I could find at our public library. Then moved on to crochet, cross-stitch, needlepoint, beading, quilting, and machine knitting. I now have 4 knitting machines and LOVE to make Norwegian sweaters. I still love to hand-knit and my current obsessions are socks and shawls. I have just retired from 35 years as a speech-language pathologist so now have time to play! Knitting for my grandchildren is really fun as they are the only family members who wear knits. Too bad for the others!
