I learned how to crochet from my great grandmother when I was about 12. I learned on crochet cotton and steel hooks (always seem to learn things the hard way lol, learned to crosstitch on hardanger cloth). I just learned the very basics like the sc and the dc and only did afghans using only a dc stitch with no real pattern. I finally taught myself to read a pattern and since I've been crocheting up a storm. My first project reading a pattern was for a pineapple doily and spend the next year crocheting doily after doily. Then came the bunny (see projects) Since then I've learned how to do pictuoral afghans as well. Though I've been crocheting over 30 years I am still learning new things and can't imagine myself not ever going a day without crocheting something! Update 11/21/12. I have just now started stepping into the designing pool. Just simple stuff to start.
