I've sewn almost all my life. When my daughter was a baby I made a quilt for her from a kit. Thirty years ago I started a quilt from leftover scraps of fabric used to make our clothing. It's still sitting in a box in our garage. Then a few years ago I started helping out in a friend's quilt shop. It was a revelation - rotary cutters, cutting mats, amazing fabrics made just for quilting, books and patterns - I couldn't believe the richness of this art form. I started spending my paycheck in the store, and working on projects when I wasn't waiting on customers. I was hooked! Someday I'll even dig out that project I started years ago with cardboard templates and scissors and get it finished!!
