Simple Sewer

I first started sewing and doing other crafts as a child when I was in 4-H. I was a 7 year 4-H member and I primarily did sewing and fashion reviews with my twin sister. My older sister and mom helped us learn to sew also. I first started sewing and doing other crafts as a child when I was in 4-H. I was a 7 year 4-H member and I primarily did sewing and fashion reviews with my twin sister. My older sister and mom helped us learn to sew also. I would say I'm still a beginner sewer as I never really developed my skill but did find out once, I could cut out and sew a pattern w/o my mom or sister's help. I ended up taking the seams in and re-sewing the garment but eventually I got it done. Some crafts that I am most proud of are my Easter Bunny basket which was an idea I saw in a craft store at Michael's using a round or oval basket, lace and ribbon, plastic eyes, pom poms, Chenille yarn, a Styrofoam ball and popsickle stick for the head and glue. I made two that year.. one for me and one for my then little step-son. He's now 20 almost 21 and I probably made these before I got married over 18 years ago. I also made my own flower arrangements for my wedding. Finally, when I was a Freshman in college, I found a Lighthouse scene poster at a bookstore for an Art Class. The assignment was to grid out the poster and transfer what we saw in each grid on some kind of paper thick enough to hold Acryllic paint. Once I drew and painted the painting, we then matted the edges and framed it. I would love to brush up on my sewing skills; learn to crochet and maybe knit but definately Crochet; learn to scrapbook;' learn to do photography, and definately learn to do Oil paintings, drawing and Oil painting strokes. When my step-son graduated from high school in 2010, I think, about January of that year, I began putting together pictures and scanning them to my computer. I then imported them to a free version of Storybook 3.0 on Creative Memories. Creative Memories reps were not able to help me much along the way as many had only used the paid versions. I had to learn how to scan and import my pictures to their program and pick the storybook size I wanted and later converted to a smaller book for a better price through the help of a friend who sells Creative Memories. I worked very dilingently for 4 months of trying to get my family, my husband's family, Caleb's mom's family and others who meant a lot to my step-son. This was not only a book about him but the families that loved him. I have since upgraded to some paid versions of the Storybook to Storybook 4.0, I think, but have yet to learn it. I hope to do a storybook for our 13 year old son. It's very hard to gather 18-19 years of pictures like I did for my step-son and condense his whole life into 20-22 pages, but I did it. I am excited about this website and hope to learn a lot from other crafters. I have enjoyed seeing what other crafters are making too.
