My mom started trying to teach me Crochet a dozen years ago or so, when my fingers first started to cramp up with arthritis. I never quite got the hang of it past single crochet and how to do straight lines.
But I took that knowledge and banged out a full Queen-size blanket in single crocheted straight lines. it took me about two years, but I got it done. I stayed on in that fashion, everything in straight lines for a while. I picked up double crochet and half double soon after.
I put my hooks down for a while when life got a bit tough, but once things eased out I took them back up. Then a friend from High school mentioned she was having a baby. Out came the hooks, up went the youtube, and I was learning in the round and lots of things.
In two months time I went from a simple 'straight lines only' crocheter to a girl making hats and beanies. I am loving what I'm doing and I want to learn more and more.
