I am a self taught crafter. Since I am left handed and my mother and grandmother were unable to teach me the skills they had as right handers. I began doing embroidery and oil painting as a very young child from looking at pictures. As a young adult I taught myself to knit (right-handed), crochet (left-handed), sew clothing, and quilt. Every piece of leftover fabric was saved and my stash is now immense but I am whittling it down to a more reasonable size now that I retired in 2011 and am making quilts to donate to Project Linus, Children's Cancer Center, Wounded Warriors, and Quilts of Valor as well as our local guilds community project program. At 69 years of age I still have a large vegetable garden and can everything for the winter months. We have one daughter, two sons and three grandchildren. My husband is very supportive of my quilting mania and is even considering a longarm for me in the future. Wish you all get a man as good as mine. Happy quilting!
